F21 Visual Inspiration

After spending over an hour working on tomorrow's #FashionFriday post featuring RVA Fashion Week and Catwalk For Kids, I think it's time for a visual or two (or three... or more) after browsing on Forever21. Just as a warning y'all - this post may not be the most professional regarding verbage and such but I will try to use decent grammar and good punctuation. I've had quite a few *SQUEEE* and *holy-crapper-dappers* moments after discovering I'm part of GayRVA's coverage team for RVA Fashion Week. The downside of discovering this is the sudden *OMG WHAT TO WEAR* thoughts running rampant through my head. My initial thought  was to remix my fave $5 black Diversity Thrift dress and wear it to all the shows while styling it as many ways as possible with shoes, hoisery, accessories, etc. #RVA weather seems to be a cold front again, so I have a feeling that tights may be an outfit accessory of choice. The dilemma is that I've somehow snagged a seam or two in said black dress (possibly due to some of the damn winter weight I'm attempting to shed) so my initial idea may be foiled. I've been meaning to look into adding some more dresses to my wardrobe for spring and summer so a little surfing on Forever21 has lead to a few picks that hopefully I may find in the store to try on as much as I hate trying on stuff.

I also like the Foil Lace Dress, Zipper Belted Sleeveless Dress, Rose Epaulet Dress, and the Paint Streak Dress but I was having issues finding them on ShopStyle. Do you see yourself in any of these?

Nordstrom Fits America at Short Pump Town Center

Tomorrow (March 11, 2011) is the semi-annual Nordstom Fits America event at Nordstrom Short Pump Town Center. Receive a complimentary bra fitting by one of Nordstrom's certified fit experts to ensure that you're fully supported and uplifted. Nordstrom and participating brands will donate $2 to Susan G. ps. Help me support #TeamPlaid by donating to the LLS-VA Man & Woman of the Year fundraising campaign! We're all about early detection for ALL cancers!

Go, #TeamPlaid, GO!

#TeamPlaid launches today and I'm partnering with Cancer for Christmas to help spread the word about early cancer detection! As to quote Casey Quinlan - author of Cancer for Christmas and storyteller extraordinaire - I'm beyond pink, I've gone Plaid!

Cancer is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, I lost my grandfather to kidney cancer and my Uncle Jimmy to lung cancer. Since cancer is a prevalent disease within my family history, I'm partnering with Team Plaid to support cancer research and early detection. Casey has recently been nominated for the LLS-VA Woman of The Year Award, so please join me in fundraising in support of for the Virginia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You can directly access the #TeamPlaid fundraising page HERE. Don't forget to spread the word on Twitter using the #TeamPlaid hashtag and if you would graciously like to share the fundraising link with friends and family to help support #TeamPlaid, please use this link - http://ow.ly/479UB.

Thanks again for supporting #TeamPlaid with me - let's KICK CANCER'S BUTT!

#TuesdayShoesDay - Kendal Knot Wedge

Ahh, the first day of March... When I was involved in corporate retail fashion at "The Big N," March 1st had the significance of shedding the hosiery and having the ability to go bare legged at work with the appropriate skirt length. As much as I love a good pair of black opaque tights or a sheer Swiss-dot printed pair of hose, it was nice to have the option to shed the hose especially if I wanted to wear a peep toe wedge paired with a springy, swingy skirt! These cute American Eagle Kendal Knot Wedges available at Payless caught my eye as a viable spring shoe option. I love the knotted detail around the toe paired with the faux-cork wedge and this shoe could look equally smart with skirts or skinny jeans. The best part of this shoe is that it's available in both regular and wide widths as well as a dark denim and a white canvas material. What shoes are you planning on adding to your wardrobe for spring?
