Makeup Monday: My Current Eye Obsessions

Hello fellow makeup junkies! I present to you a few of the eye products from my makeup stash that I am quite enamored with currently!  I hope everyone had a fab holiday weekend and while I didn't get makeup for presents, I did splurge on a new digital camera with my Christmas money!  I'm (im)patiently waiting for my new GE X5 to arrive as well as a tripod (for outfit photos and such) as well as a nice bag for toting my camera around. I purchased the same camera as my Dad so I've had the opportunity to give his a test-drive before I committed to purchasing mine. I've also purchase the same exact camera bag too but of course I will embellish mine with a fancy scarf or some sort of decoration - gotta fashionista it up!   So here goes on a few of my eye makeup picks - enjoy!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil - I'm obsessed with this in the "Milk" shade which is a true, creamy white that is devoid of shimmer. This makes a great eyeshadow base/primer because the colors really stick to the texture and pop quite nicely. I will also apply a few swipes and blend well under my eyes before I add my concealer to brighten things up a bit and to help diminish the gosh awful discoloration due to lack of sleep and genetics. I also am a fan of the new Rocky Mountain Green Color which I use as a base for any green eyeshadows or as liner on my lower lashline if I am doing a super neutral look but needing a pop of color.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies - This very well might be my "holy grail" mascara. Volume, length, decent separation...  Wears quite nicely too! You must close the tube very tightly on this one or it will quickly dry out and be prone to clumping. My fave high end mascaras are Clinique's High Impact and Dior's DiorShow and this definitely gives DiorShow a run for it's money.

Wet 'n Wild "Brulee" Color Icon Eyeshadow Single - This has become my new everyday eyeshadow. Slap it on from lid to brow over my eyeshadow, add a shimmery brow bone highlight color, line eyes, and add mascara - DONE!!! Easy as pie. My one gripe is that the shadow has tried to crumble a bit in the pan when in my makeup bag but for just under $2 a pop, not a bad deal at all.  I have yet to try the other colors but this is Brulee is a very close dupe to MAC's Brule, this just may be a just smidge darker.

Outfit Of The Day 12/23/10

I wore this yesterday but I'm now getting around to posting this. The picture with the flash was taken inside the dressing room at GAP. My friend Jessica took the other photo for me.

Last minute holiday wish...

Dear Santa,

I think I've been fairly good this year. Not necessarily perfect, but good enough...

I am really happy for the career transition that's headed my way and I am looking forward to that new adventure. I know I also asked for a cute, new special someone to kiss under the mistletoe but Christmas Eve is tomorrow and my chances don't look too promising.

As much as I'd love a new pair of shoes or a cute new shirt, I have had my eye on the GE X5 camera for a while. I would like to get in the habit of taking outfit photos since I don't have my own paparazzi nor do I have a full-length mirror to do the camera phone self-portrait, so a GE X5 paired with a nice sturdy tripod would be a fantastic Christmas gift.

GE X5
So Santa, if you're still looking for that last minute gift - I'd gladly accept one of these GE X5's in my stocking or under the tree. I'll also take a Nordstrom gift card too while you're at it!

Love,

RVAfashionista a.k.a. Lindsay

The RVAfashionista Winter Skin Survival Guide

The dry winter air and frigid temperatures always ends up wreaking havoc on my somewhat sensitive skin that's already prone to hormonal and stress related breakouts. To combat  the dryness of the acne medication I've been using to clear up the breakouts, these products have been my lifesavers for getting my skin back on track.

Walgreens Daily Regenerating Cleanser - I use this two to three times a week as a face scrub. I'm currently using The Parsonage Oatmeal, Milk & Honey Soap as my everyday facial cleanser. I am also a fan of the Lavender Fields Farm Oatmeal, Milk, & Honey Soap.

Bio-Oil - I use this as a serum and around my eyes because my skin is especially dry in the eye area. The Bio-Oil has helped with some of the discoloration around my eyes and from leftover acne scars and marks. This is surprisingly non-greasy and helps add that extra moisture my skin craves in the dry weather.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream - This stuff doesn't break me out, keeps my skin super hydrated, and is gentle enough to use around the eye area as well.  Dermatologists swear by the Cetaphil brand and I do too!

Carmex Strawberry Moisturizing Lipbalm - Don't forget your lips when keeping the rest of your face moisturized! I even wear this under lipsticks and lip glosses because sometimes the moisture from the gloss isn't enough to keep my lips hydrated.

Clinique City Block SPF25 - I wear sunscreen religiously and this is my go-to product. I have been wearing City Block for years and there is nothing quite like it in my opinion. It doesn't sting or run into your eyes if you get sweaty and leaves a nice natural finish.
