Benefit Cosmetics Stay Put Set - Good Things Come In Small Packages

Don't be fooled by the small sizes of the products Benefit Cosmetics Stay Put Set. This set is a Sephora online exclusive and retails for only $10. Below is the product breakdown and comparison of full products sizes in ounces and dollars.

0.09oz Stay Don't Stray - full size is 0.33oz and retails for $24
0.11oz Erase Paste in Medium - full size is 0.15oz and retails for $26
0.11 Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in R.V.S.P. - full size is 0.16oz and retails for $19

If you're a bargain savvy shopper like myself (well, we know that I'm a beauty product aficionado as well) - you will discover this $10 gem is a beautiful deal.  The full size Erase Paste retails for $26 and you get 0.15oz but if you buy two of these sets, you'll get 0.22oz of Erase Paste for $20 and the extra goodies of Stay Don't Stray and the R.S.V.P. Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner.

I'm already hooked on pairing the Stay Don't Stray primer underneath my Erase Paste for my gosh awful under eye circles.  A little dab will do ya for the Stay Don't Stray primer - I apply a thin coat, let it dry, and then dab on the Erase Paste and blend with my ring finger and set with powder (though I really want to try out Benefit's Powderflage to set my Erase Paste).  My beauty blogging buddy Karen over at Makeup and Beauty Blog has raved about the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners and now I'm hooked too. R.S.V.P. is a great neutral shade to pair with black liner or colorful liner and mascara. I normally dislike cream shadows but these don't crease or get gunky on your lids but they're also a great base for other eye looks.

If you're looking to try out some great products from the Benefit line, I'd definitely suggest the Benefit Cosmetics Stay Put Set. Don't let the small package and small price fool you, it's well worth it to add it to your makeup collection!

Revlon DoubleTwist - A Double Suck Of A Mascara

Sorry Revlon DoubleTwist Mascara, as much as your promotional two-for-one packaging caught my eye at CVS, it doesn't live up to the hype of volume with separation. If you're looking for a drier mascara formula that produces clumpy volume with a little definition - then Revlon DoubleTwist Mascara could definitely be your go to mascara. I could probably live with this mascara if it didn't clump so much because the formula adheres to my lashes quite well (to the point of needing eye makeup remover after using my regular cleanser).  Even if I try to wipe the brush off with a tissue, it still clumps. I bought it, I gave this mascara a test run two days in a row, and promptly returned it today. Sorry Revlon, I wish I could say more good thing about your DoubleTwist Mascara but the two-for-one package deal just meant that it was twice as bad of a deal. I do have to give Revlon props for their ColorStay Eyeliner Pencil in Cocoa which is the best color I've found for filling in my brows since I turned in my blonde card and joined "Team Auburn."  Most brown brow and eye pencil pencils I've looked at have been neutral or too cool toned to fill my browns in with and very few cosmetics companies offer an auburn brown pencil.  I do like the definition from this warm toned medium brown to fill in my brows and I soften the line a bit with a small, stiff angled brush.  I am fearing that the Cocoa color might be discontinued by Revlon after looking on their site because I don't see it offered with their other colors.  If you're an auburn or a redheaded gal, please share with me your fave pencils/shadows to fill your brows - thanks!

#TuesdayShoesDay: Michelle D "Dawn" at Dillard's

Office appropriate, on-trend, and under $50?  Yes, please and thank you to the Michelle D "Dawn" available at Dillard's in leopard, black patent, and red patent.  The Michelle D "Dawn" was recommended to us by Kaitlin Dennis at Dillard's Short Pump when we were making over Sara Marsden as part of our #40andFAB makeover adventure.

Michelle D at ShopStyle

We decided on the black patent version for Sara's #40andFAB makeover but I'm definitely eyeing these leopard print beauties! Classic styling with a just-right peep toe, a career-appropriate heel height, and the leopard print is "spot on" trend for fall and winter fashion.  If you're looking to work your style - I'd definitely add these into your wardrobe!

Jewelry Of The Day 10/20/10

Silver and gold bracelet from my Grandma and the silver earrings are a gift from my friend Margot.

#40andFAB - A Social Media Makeover - Part 1 - Dillard's

Ann Grace & Co. and myself have partnered to makeover Sara Marsden - the Marketing Director for Theatre IV and the Barksdale Theatre.  Like many working mothers balancing a career and a family, taking the time to focus on her overall appearance is often the last thing on Sara's mind.  Using the combined fashion experience of Ann Grace Wallace and myself, paired with Ann's appearance coaching experience and my social media expertise - we are making over Sara Marsden to renovate her style into #40andFAB.  If you look good, you feel good and how you live the rest of your life is reflected by that.

Our first mission with Sara is to make over her work wardrobe and we have partnered with Dillard's Short Pump to provide her with pieces that will fit and flatter her.  Dillard's Short Pump is having their "Work Your Style" event this week and they are focusing on fashion for the career minded woman.  Ann Grace Wallace from Ann Grace & Co. and myself will be at the Dillard's Short Pump location this Thursday 10/14 from 4pm to 7pm to help Sara's work wardrobe to reflect her image better as the Marketing Director of Theatre IV and the Barksdale Theatre.  Come meet Sara, Ann Grace, and myself as we find the perfect fashion finds for Sara and provide fashion tips and advice this Thursday 10/14 at Dillard's Short Pump from 4pm to 7pm.  Check out Ann's "BEFORE" photo below and keep your eye on RVAfashionista.com for more updates!

Anthony Deep Pore Cleansing Clay - This sucks... In a good way!

I'll admit that Anthony Logistics For Men Deep Pore Cleansing Clay sucks as a mask in the nicest way possible.  As in it sucks all the "gunk" out of your pores and leaves you with smooth skin without feeling tight or irritated.  For once, saying that a product sucks is a good thing!  :-)

So after that little play on words, I will sing my praises for the Anthony Logistics For Men Deep Pore Cleansing Clay.  Yes, this is technically a men's grooming product but this works the bomb-diggity for the dreaded PMS breakout.  When I was the Men's Fragrance & Grooming Business Manager at "The Big N" - my Anthony trainer had let me onto this gem of a product.  Her skin looked AWESOME and this was one of her secrets.  I would recommend this mask for normal to oily to combination skin types, I'd definitely stay away from this if your skin is dry or sensitive.  The Anthony Logistics For Men Deep Pore Cleansing Clay mask features apricot kernel oil, calendula, and vitamins A, C and E.  A word to the wise though, the color of this clay mask resembles Oompa-Loompa orange so make sure to rinse your sink out well after.  The orange color is totally worth it though once you see your skin after!

#TuesdayShoesDay: Enzo Angiolini 'Sully'

I want these some kind of bad.  I think they'd be perfect for the Pink Tie Gala on October 23...

Should I try the skinny cargo pant?

I have yet to try these on or see a similar pair of pants on someone in real life but I really want to try out the military chic/utilitarian trend with a pair of skinny cargo pants.  I have a pair of cargo shorts that I lived in this summer and I would like to transition the ease and comfort (AND POCKETS - I love pockets) of them into my fall wardrobe.  I am already envisioning skinny cargo pants with either pair of my black boots and a cozy sweater or layered with lightweight knits and my XCVI Repertory Leather Jacket.  I also like the convenience of the pockets because I can carry my lipgloss/gum/loose change and potentially avoid carrying a purse.

What do you think of the skinny cargo trend?  Would you rock it?

Fall Focus: XCVI "Repertory" Leather Jacket

Yesterday was chilly enough for me to wear my XCVI Repertory leather jacket. I attended the "Blessing of the Animals" service at my church which was outdoors and then I met up with some new Twitter BFFs at the "A Taste Of Carytown" food and wine festival.  The moment I had received my XCVI jacket to review, I had tons of outfit ideas planned in my head.  The leather is soft and supple, the seaming adds both shape and a bit of edge, and the lining was nice enough for me to roll the sleeves back until I take it to have the sleeves hemmed (I am 5'1" on a good day so most things with long sleeves are too long).  I ended up pairing the XCVI Repertory leather jacket with my grey skinny jeans, white and turquoise camisoles layered, a black 3/4-sleeve cardigan, and a lightweight black scarf.  I also wore my Trotters Audrey Boots that I bought from Nordies a while ago but you can still find them at ShoeBuy.  Below are photos of the XCVI jacket and another outfit idea on what to pair with a fab leather jacket!  If you are looking to purchase the XCVI Repertory jacket, you can find it here at Sense of Fashion.  Don't forget to "like" XCVI on Facebook and to follow them on Twitter at @XCVI.

DISCLAIMER: The jacket was provided by XCVI to review for RVAfashionista.com.

Jewelry Of The Day 10/02/10

I wore these pieces to the State Fair of Virginia last night but wearing them again today because they go well with my outfit.

Earrings are from Target and bracelet is a vintage piece from my friend Holly.  The hammered metal hoop earrings are a regular go-to for me. The metal work and slate/blue/green colors of the stones seem to coordinate with many color palettes.

Simple Saturday: An easy D.I.Y. eco-friendly body scrub.

I will admit I don't drop a lot of cash on body lotions, scrubs, etc. My favorite body scrub involves coffee grounds, sugar, and olive oil. I love that I am re-purposing the coffee grounds from my daily caffeine fix into a scrub which is good for feet, knees, elbows, and any other rough spots. The mixture resembles a brown sludge but definitely leaves my skin smooth and moisturized with the olive oil I've added to the mix.  I will also mix a dab of sugar and olive oil together to create a face scrub. I would not recommend that scrub if your skin is overly acne prone or sensitive though.

Cheers to a simple Saturday and a relaxing weekend! Time to hit the shower and scrub down!
